National Foundation for Kahlenberg
RESOLUTION OF THE SEJM OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND
DATED JULY 19, 2001.
§ 1. Paying homage, following Pope John Paul II, to Kahlenberg as the place from where, in 1683, a resounding victory came for Christian Europe, then defending itself against Islam, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland confirms that Kahlenberg is for Poles a special symbol of victory, hope, faith and love of freedom. It is beyond Poland's borders a National Shrine of Patriotism uniting Poles from home and abroad. As such, this place should be given special care and preserved for future generations.
§ 2. The Sejm of the Republic of Poland expresses its conviction that concern for the preservation of Kahlenberg is a matter for the Polish state and all Poles.
§ 3. Recognizing that the initiative to establish a National Foundation for Kahlenberg is worthy of support, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland requests the Government of the Republic of Poland and all Poles to support this initiative in all possible and legally permissible forms.
§ 4. Taking into account the importance that Kahlenberg has for Poles, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland requests the press, radio and television to adequately present to the Polish society the educational, historical and patriotic values of this place.
§ 5 The resolution shall come into force on the date of adoption.
